The laid table
Fine Bone China from DIBBERN is a wonderful material. Light, translucent, wafer-thin and yet stable. Pure and captivatingly simple, it creates the ideal stage for fine food and drinks on any laid table. The LUMEN table lamp family, designed by Tobias Grau, now also sets the entire scene in the right light.
Commonality
DIBBERN and the designer Tobias Grau can look back on many years of collaboration and are also in close creative dialog due to their regional proximity. DIBBERN has already produced the lampshades for many luminaires designed by Tobias Grau. The same demand for quality and design was the starting point for a first own table lamp collection, designed by Tobias Grau Design for DIBBERN: LUMEN.
Material and design
A simple porcelain cylinder and a concentrated, minimalist design make the wafer-thin Fine Bone China from DIBBERN shine. Two different porcelain bodies designed as lamps and four different glasses, each in two glass colors, make up the collection and can be combined with each other. The glass provides warm, soft light and at the same time reflects the lightness of the material. The clear design makes LUMEN an object with its very own character.
How Lumen shines
tipsyControl, a patented process that enables dimming and switching on and off by tilting, holding and setting down again, allows the lights to shine at different brightness levels. The battery-powered luminaires can be operated actively for seven hours without a switch or cable.
Tobias Grau is a multi-award-winning designer who founded his own lighting design company near Hamburg with his wife at the end of the 1980s. Tobias Grau has been working as a freelance designer since 2020.
"Lumen consists of a cylinder made of Fine Bone China, which is also the light body, and an element made of colored glass, which can be placed inside or over it. The cylinder is available in two heights, the glass in four shapes and two colors, anthracite and amber. All the shapes are familiar. There is nothing new about them. But the combination creates the expression, and that's enough."

The DIBBERN glass collection is produced according to our own designs by high-quality glass manufacturers in Europe using traditional methods. All glasses are mouth-blown, hand-cut and made from solid-colored glass.
