"For this year's Milan Design Week we wanted to explain the way our Fine Bone China is made and why it is so special. We admire the artistic approach of Cameranesi Pompili - on a small scale, their installation is a very playful translation of the process of porcelain making and presents our manufacturing in a poetic way .“

The Magic of Fine Bone China
The Magic of Fine Bone China
Fine Bone China is the most sophisticated and technically demanding product in ceramic production. DIBBERN’s particularly light, elegant Fine Bone China is produced in traditional and sensitive handwork one hundred percent in Bavaria, Germany. With time, dedication, care and experience, the cups and plates are traditionally turned to achieve the highest quality. It withstands the daily 'high traffic' and, being designed as a modular mix-and-match concept, offers equivalent flexibility. Its creamy white, brilliant, translucent material is at the same time long-lasting, durable and incomparable in its fine appeal.

In their installation, Cameranesi Pompili stage the process of porcelain making and the extraordinary translucency of Fine Bone China.

The playful installation highlights centuries-old craftsmanship in a contemporary, enchanting way allowing the lightness and special aesthetics of the porcelain to shine through.

Our manufactory
Our manufactory
Germany's first private porcelain manufactory was founded in 1814 in Hohenberg, Bavaria, by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther. This factory was reopened by Dibbern in 1997. The traditional art of porcelain production is continued here at the highest level and with the highest standards of craftsmanship.

More than 100 employees are involved in the design and production of a very special porcelain: Fine Bone China. The term bone china originates from England and stands for very fine porcelain (china) with a high proportion of bone ash.
Our porcelain
Our porcelain
Fine Bone China is the most technically and manually demanding product in porcelain production. Soft porcelain differs from conventional hard porcelain due to the high proportion of bone ash, which contains calcium phosphate. It contributes to the enormous density and strength of the material and at the same time gives the thin-walled porcelain a high degree of transparency, which makes it appear delicate and filigree.

The combination of fine elegance and robust suitability for everyday use is what makes Fine Bone China so special and is reflected in the appreciation of leading hotels and restaurants. In times of automation and the serial uniformity of many goods, they appreciate the individuality and high quality of the products from our porcelain manufactory.
Our design
Our design
Quality has priority. This also applies to the design of our products. The principle established by the Bauhaus that form and function form a unit is still the highest rule for design. Tableware is the stage for the appearance of the food - this is the self-image of the design. It is therefore classic, restrained, rather purist and completely dispenses with the development of so-called "trendy", short-lived products.

The design of Dibbern Fine Bone China thus expresses a value that combines tradition and modernity. Several awards have confirmed Dibbern's design philosophy and recognized our manufactory's products as trend-setting.
Manufacturing process

The porcelain manufacturer DIBBERN combines centuries-old tradition with contemporary design.

At the end of the 1990s, Dibbern takes over Germany's first private porcelain manufactory, founded in 1814: Hutschenreuther.

Here, in the founding factory in Hohenberg in Bavaria, Dibbern has been producing its Fine Bone China collections ever since. The particularly light Fine Bone China is traditionally produced by more than 100 employees, mostly by hand. With time, dedication and experience, the cups and plates are traditionally turned to achieve the highest quality and to make the wafer-thin Fine Bone China stable and unbreakable.

The essential aesthetics of the design, the feel and the traditional know-how celebrate the ritual of modern table culture.

Complex craftsmanship and quality monitoring at the highest level make every piece of Dibbern Fine Bone China unique - for everyday use.
In addition to the collection for a private international clientele, Dibbern Fine Bone China also designs and manufactures custom-made china for top addresses in the hospitality and F&B segment and counts the Federal Chancellery, Lufthansa First Class, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts and other luxury hotels among its customers.
Another pillar of the porcelain company's success is the 'Solid Color' porcelain series.

The Bauhaus-inspired design from the 1930s, finished with a colored rim, secured Dibbern's breakthrough in the 1980s and has become a much-awarded design classic.
Today, the company, which was founded by Bernd T. Dibbern in the early 1970s, is managed by the new generation, the sons Jan and Ben Dibbern. Dibbern porcelain is sold in the company's own flagship store in Hamburg and via selected premium retailers. In order to increasingly present itself to the international interior design public, Dibbern will be showing its products for the first time at the Milan Design Week 2023, in Via Brera 16.
To mark the occasion, an exclusive lighting collection will be presented in collaboration with the German lighting designer Tobias Grau, with whom Dibbern can look back on many years of cooperation.
